Litz USA Students who started at Alfred U (NY), mostly transferred to Top 50 USA Universities.

A student interested in Alfred University should be someone who is committed to their academics and enjoys a community like atmosphere. Alfred students are very friendly and accepting of each other's differences, be it sports, academic major or ethnic background. Students who are looking for a comfortable transition from the comforts of home will be happy at Alfred because of the supportive atmosphere and small size of the college.

What's more for our Hong Kong Students, Alfred University also offers you an excellent chance to get into the school of your choices! At the same time, you have the best of the both worlds - in spending the first two years in a small liberal arts college before moving to a prestigious university.

From Alfred U to UMich Ann Arbor

The atmosphere of the campus allowed me to explore and develop my interests in various fields. When I was in Alfred, I got to make friends with students from different ethnicities. I also participated in the school band and orchestra, which perform in school commencements and community concerts annually.

The competitiveness and high standard in both academics and sports fostered my interest in transferring to The University of Michigan, where I got my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Social Work degrees. I also participated as an active member in University of Michigan Table Tennis Club. During this time, I represented the club and school in collegiate competitions. USA Colleges’  willingness to embrace cultural diversity and positive motivation on every aspect inspired me, and these are the values that I live by. (Geoff)

From Alfred U to Johns Hokpins

I didn’t know much about Alfred University before I went there, but my college experiences turned out to be wonderful! Alfred is so welcoming, especially to international students. I met a lot of good friends and the professors are wonderful, they really played a big part in my college life.

I enjoyed going to class every day, I also participated in club activities as well as some volunteer work.

I would say USA College is full of freedom and fun that helped me becoming an involved person, a better leader and a liberal person in terms of education. Thanks to Alfred as I successfully transfer to my dream school, Johns Hopkins University! (Martin)

From Alfred U to UC Berkeley

Alfred University is a wonderful place for studying when you first studied in the United States. It is a small place full of friendly people who are willing to help. The small class size and helpful professors are the key to students’ academic success.

The reason why I chose Alfred is the school far away from urban life. I’ve lived in Hong Kong for 16 years, I told myself that I should try something different. Living in the city of Alfred was a very good experience, people in small towns are really friendly. It helped me a lot adapt to American culture.

The professors there are super helpful. Visiting their office hours help studying a lot. They don’t mind if you have a whole bunch of questions. After studying in U.C. Berkeley for a semester, I really miss the lovely professors in Alfred. In Berkeley, there are usually over a hundred students in lecture; and it is very normal to see up to twenty students packing in office hours. So you have to wait for a long time in order to ask a question.

Since Alfred is a small university, it is very easy to make friends and see each other every day. Most students there get involved in a few extracurricular activities. You can even start your own clubs, produce a concert or act in a play. Off-campus recreation and sightseeing are organized regularly. This includes museums and galleries, state parks, Niagara Falls, etc.

In conclusion, studying in Alfred University is one of the happiest moments in my life. I still keep in touch with many of my friends and professors. They definitely brighten up my life. I shall always treasure the great moments in Alfred, and this will definitely be a part of my good memories for years to come.  (Victor)
