American Honors Program

Ivy Tech community college joined the American Honors Program in 2014, it provides its students rigorous courses, small class sizes, and personalized academic advising. This model is often known as “2+2,” meaning students complete their first two years at a community college and then finish their degree at a four-year college or university. American Honors program combine the low-cost structure of a community college with a challenging curriculum, preparing students to successfully transfer.

The American Honors program is currently offered at five Ivy Tech Community College locations in Indiana:

Lafayette , Fort Wayne, East Chicago, Indianapolis, South Bend and Valparaiso.

Courses for American Honors Program:

Approximately half of a student’s credits will be American Honors courses. Most of these courses will be conducted as face-to-face online seminars, but some are required in-person, students will go to the campus at least once per week. Students may elect to take the remaining courses at their home campus, another Ivy Tech campus, or online.

The American Honors program at Ivy Tech supports the transfer mission at Ivy Tech Community College, providing an affordable path to a top-tier four-year degree for students.

Students may earn an associate of arts, associate of science or associate of applied science degree focusing in:

Science, Computer and Information Sciences, Engineering , Business, Health Sciences, Education and Liberal Arts etc.

Many Ivy Tech courses can be transferred as credits to four-year universities, such as Purdue University.
