Founded in 1855, Wayland Academy is a college preparatory, independent boarding and day school in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin with 190 students in grades 9-12 from 27 countries and 10 states. About 40% of students are international. The school, located on a 55 acre campus, houses an academic building, science building and observatory, a large field house (holding three full-sized basketball courts, a bouldering wall, and fitness center), a health center with registered nurse and physical trainer on site, library, chapel and student union. All core subjects at Wayland offer College Prep, Honors, and AP level classes providing each student with suitable and challenging curriculum. Wayland also offers college credit for some classes in partnership with the University of Minnesota. Some notable alumni include Susan Peterson, former NBC and CBS foreign correspondent and Addie Joss, Baseball Hall of Fame member.
