The institution is best known for its co-op program, where students alternate two semesters of full-time study with semesters of full-time employment in four or five-year programs. Students in this program typically gain up to 18 months of real work experience.

Co-op positions are offered in 69 countries—including the Dominican Republic, Belize, South Africa, even Antarctica — and the study abroad office boasts 60 traditional programs in 43 countries, such as Japan or England. Northeastern’s International Business Program affords students the opportunity to gain a dual-degree in a sister school in Europe or Mexico.

The N.U.in Program allows first-year students to spend their first semester studying abroad in Australia, Greece, England or Ireland.
