學校特色

一提起UNC或北卡,人們必定先想起 Chapel Hill (教堂山) 分校,其實北卡的另一分校, UNC Greensboro (簡稱UNCG )也很好,特別適合一般海外留學生。UNCG 分校以卓越的教育質量和熱心的教職員稱著。

有別於一般州立大型學校,UNCG 同時彌漫着Liberal Arts College (人文學院)的氣氛,師生友善,即使是較多學生的課堂,教授仍會與學生建立友好聯繫。

校園佔地200畝, 有寬廣的草地, 磚砌的行人道;有建築物九十餘棟, 包括20多個學生宿。學生到個別課室,一般不需10分鐘。學校離有二十三萬人口的Greensboro市中心只有1英哩。

Student Profile

75 percent of the students are undergraduates. While 89 percent are from North Carolina, the rest come from 45 other states and over 90 foreign countries. About 30 percent of the students live on campus.

Student Life

UNCG students can get involved by joining about 200 organizations, including numerous fraternities and sororities. Student athletes can play at the intramural and club levels or try out for the UNCG Spartans varsity sports teams, which compete in the NCAA Division I Southern Conference.

Students like to go sports games, outdoor adventures during the weekend, and attending shows and concerts. Some like to have a cup of coffee at one of the local shops, enjoying wonderful performances by the great music and arts department, and walking around the beautiful campus.

Others might like the gaming center, a room devoted solely to the enjoyment of video games.

Many local students also like to interact with the international students, and eat.

The office of Leadership and Service Learning offers students plenty of opportunities to get involved at UNCG and in the community through service learning and volunteer opportunities, including:

The Fountain

It is a landmark on UNCG’s campus, and is a common meeting place for student groups. Visible from parts of the quad all the way to the Elliot University Center and from above in the Jackson Library and “the Caf,” the large steps and platform around the fountain are frequently home to demonstrations, performances, and fraternity/sorority functions.

Clock Towers

Students at the University also uphold the tradition of not walking beneath the four-faced clock tower located near the Rawk. It is said that those who walk under the clock will not graduate on time, and some students believe in this almost religiously, avoiding the bricks around the clock tower as well.

Taylor Garden

Taylor Garden, situated between the Elliott University Center and the Alumni House, is a quiet spot to study or meet friends.

Spartan Village

Apart from traditional residence hall, this Is a collection of four residence halls located across Lee Street and featuring apartment-style living for undergraduate students.

Weatherspoon Art Museum

This nationally renowned museum inside features one of the largest and most impressive collections of modern American art in the country.

Greensboro – About the city

It is the state’s third largest city and is a dynamic city, offering a splendid setting for a university. Greensboro has been rated by a national survey as the nation’s second most attractive place to live, based on climate, health, transportation, crime rate and prosperity.

Situated midway between Washington, DC, and Atlanta, Georgia, Greensboro is one hour’s drive from the Research Triangle (including Chapel Hill), two hours from the mountains, and about three hours from the Outer Banks and other beaches. In return, UNCG has enriched Greensboro with its widely diversified academic community for more than one hundred years.
