“Being an exchange student was one of the most memorable and rewarding experiences in my life. I was the only Asian student in the whole school back in Kansas in 2005. I was exposed to a more open-minded education style and regain my confidence in academics after not doing so well in HKCEE. It was also a very precious experience that I was living with an American host family for the whole year. They treated me like their own daughter and we remain in a close relationship even after I left Kansas for 10 years now! I think my oral English has improved the most during my exchange year as I had way more opportunities to speak English back then than in my college years afterward! Besides all these benefits, one of the most life-changing experiences happened when I was in Kansas as well. I hurt my lower back from playing basketball at school and my host mom took me to a chiropractor for treatments. From then on, I decided to pursue my Doctorate degree in Chiropractic after college and bring my knowledge back to serve the HK community.”
