Carnegie Mellon's undergraduate major in computer science combines a solid core of computer science courses with the ability to gain substantial depth in another area through a required minor in a second subject.

Purdue’s specialty of STEM is Engineering which has been ranked and recognized nationally.

This university focuses on Mechanical and Industrial Engineering as well as Computer Science. It also has a great emphasis on agriculture and technology.

Purdue’s state-of-the-art STEM teaching facility was completed in 2020. The estimated $64 million facility includes 110,000 square feet of labs, a host of new technology, and ample space for research collaboration, events, and classes.

At a school of such a large size it’s impressive to note that around 52% of students are studying a STEM field. Over the past few years, the university has redesigned its programs and over 62 courses so they adapt to STEM principles.

One example of this is their Bechtel Innovation Design Center where students can access all the technology and resources they need to test out their latest ideas and projects. The vast amounts of data generated every day has created a data-rich and data-driven world. The data science major will open pathways to careers in virtually every area of society, from healthcare, security and sustainability to education, business and economics.

A major in data science puts graduates at the forefront of an emerging field and prepares them for an exciting career at the intersection of computer science and statistics.

Students in first year data science share most of the first two semesters of curriculum with the computer science majors. After that, they may select an emphasis in computer science, mathematics, or applied statistics for the remainder of the degree progression. Data science students have a large number of electives with which they may choose to specialize in another subject area in which they would like to apply their skills.

Data Science is the interdisciplinary field of inquiry that uses quantitative and analytical methods to help gain insights and predictions based on big data. Texas A&M University

Texas A&M has been ranked #2 for both biological/agricultural engineering and petroleum engineering.

In 2010, Texas A&M started a “25 by 25” initiative that aimed to grow the total enrollment of students in engineering to 25,000 by the year 2025. In order to achieve this goal they created many new programs to attract more students into STEM, keep retention rates up within the majors, and enhance the quality of their education.
